For almost eight years I have had the priveledge of working for Lewis & Clark Community College. It has been a blast. The friendships and experiences are great. However, starting today I will no longer be a technology manager. Today, I enter a new chapter of my AV life as an integrator.
The Who/What/Where
The company I am going to work for is called Modern Communications in St. Louis, MO. They started out as a broadcast engineering firm in the ’70s. Over the last fifteen years they have begun to hone their AV integration expertise. My relationship with this company spans the last twenty years as a customer and occasional part-time worker. A number of years ago we started talking about working together on a more regular (i.e. full-time) basis. It has taken that long to work out some details from both of our ends. I will be a design/engineer as well as systems programmer.
As far as AVNation goes, nothing should change. If anything, it might be better. Our take has always been to bring the real world experiences of our contributors to you. This will, hopefully, enhance my understanding of the industry. The reason I can say this is I will see the integration side as I have not been able to before. This will give me the perspective of both a technology manager and an integrator.
I am quite excited about this opportunity. The one thing it will do for the short term is change the recording times and days of AVWeek. We will begin by moving some of the recordings to Saturdays. George Tucker will be hosting the occastional Friday recording. For those who enjoyed watching the recording live on Friday afternoons, my apologies. However, you can still watch after the fact.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. Have a great week.
