After a day of moderating the Technology Manager’s Symposium, I am really quite excited about this year’s show. First, the symposium. This was a day of presentations by tech managers and manufacturers that dealt with digital, sunsets, refresh, and design. Matt Silverman, Malissa Dillman from Kramer, John Bilar of Spectrum, Greg Brown, and Scott Rudat from Compass Group all gave a talk on these subjects.
This was the first year technology managers have had a Super Tuesday event for themselves. It was almost to capacity of a fairly large convention room. There was a good amount of interaction between the audience and the presenters, with lots of questions and follow-up questions. In addition, everyone stayed to the very end. That was what was the most fun for me, personally. I was able to host a round table discussion with all the days’ presenters and ask questions along with the audience. Overall, it was a great first time out for this event, and I would be a bit disappointed if InfoComm didn’t schedule it for next year.
The other thing I wanted to mention today was the InfoComm app. If you are at the show, or even if you are not, download this handy tool. It gives you listings of speakers, schedules of classes, and an interactive map of the show floor. You even have the ability to “check off” once you’ve visited a booth. This is what we used to do with a pen and the paper map.
The app will also give you push notifications, if you leave them enabled, to let you know of events going on. I just got a notice the keynote was about to start. I suppose I should wrap this post up and head upstairs. The app is available for both Android and iOS devices. I have both versions, one for the iPad and one on my Android phone, and the functionality is good on both. Sorry, I don’t have a Windows phone device so I’m not sure if there is one for it. Just search for “InfoComm” or “InfoComm 2013” in the Play or App store.
Thanks for taking the time to read. Have a great night. I’ll talk with you tomorrow, from the opening day of InfoComm 2013.
